Job description: As the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism embarks upon a new era of data supported decision making and workflow optimization, with a new Salesforce CRM and Business Intelligence solution, we are searching for an enthusiastic and organized salesforce administrator to join our dynamic and collaborative project team.

Reporting directly to the project’s Senior Salesforce Administrator, you will help drive successful utilization, support school-wide reporting and analytics efforts, and help maintain a highly customized salesforce integration. As the Salesforce Administrator (Database Administrator), you will be responsible for day-to-day user support and systems administration; and provide resource support for the ongoing development of our salesforce deployment/integration.

The successful candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm for information technology, emerging trends in data analysis, and salesforce’s ability to support enterprise-wide business process improvement. They will be a direct and concise communicator, proactive problem solver, and will be self-motivated. They will showcase their ability to document their work, collaborate with a team, communicate using data, and provide great customer service and user support.

The role will be expected to work from 9:00am to 5:30pm; is OT eligible; and will be expected to work overtime and after hours to provide essential systems troubleshooting, user support, and system maintenance.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as system administrator for the Force.com environment and related integration (Salesforce, Heroku, Pardot, etc.)
  • Handle all basic administrative functions including user account maintenance, reports and dashboards, workflows and other routine tasks
  • Support regular internal system audits and prepare for upgrades
  • Monitor Force.com data feeds and other integrations (Emsi, LinkedIn, SIS, etc.)
  • Support the evaluation, scope and completion of new development requests
  • Work with our management team to establish suitable processes to support administrative, development, and change management activities
  • Help lead the training of new users, and grow the Salesforce.com skillset across the organization
  • Effectively act as the liaison between our users, vendors and the application development teams
  • Work independently with members of the user community to define and document development requirements
  • Create and maintain systems documentation, artifacts relating to best practices and systems configuration, and user support materials
  • Stay informed of industry trends, latest practices, and emerging technologies.
  • Pursue continual skills development through online training, industry publications, and attending educational conferences, symposia, and training seminars.

Skills Required

  • Salesforce System Administration skills and a positive attitude
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, handle and prioritize simultaneous requests, and manage laterally and upwards
  • Creative and analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills
  • Must demonstrate exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs
  • Ability to assess the impact of new requirements on Salesforce.com and all upstream and downstream applications, systems and processes

Experience Required

  • Two years of experience as a Salesforce.com user (power user or admin preferred)
  • Salesforce Trailhead Super Badges or Certification preferred
  • Ability to train users, create training documentation, and support user adoption
  • Strong understanding of Salesforce.com best practices and functionality
  • Strong organizational abilities
  • Data analytic and visualization skills
  • Technical Aptitude. Learns new applications easily. Interest in learning backend.
  • A demonstrated ability to understand and execute technical requirements
  • Experience with academic processes preferred
  • Experience with marketing automation platforms preferred

  • The salary range for this position is $65-75K.

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree

Minimum Experience: 1 year

Minimum Field of Expertise: Basic knowledge and direct experience in relational database applications and database design. Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles and practices. Experience with MySQL, MS-SQL, Sybase, and/or Oracle databases. Some experience with high-level Web and other programming languages such as: HTML, Java, JavaScript; .NET; SAS, SPSS; Excel. Experience with managing multiple moderately complex projects. Good analytical and problem solving skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively. Strong oral and written communications, technical, planning and organizational skills.
